Perched steps away from the West River, this home in Cornwall is designed to take full advantage of Prince Edward Island’s waterways and rolling hills.

Sustainable architecture and design firm, SableArc Studios led the complete design of the residential project. Their design strategy balances traditional building methods and modern architectural achievements to produce a unique and modern design.

The new build’s architecture, tall windows, and extended outdoor spaces offer the homeowners breathtaking views of the river, embankment, and dynamic landscape from every spot in the house. The second-floor balcony spans the entire back of the home with a cozy deck carved out for social gatherings.

With the focus of enriching their clients’ livability and functionality inside and out, SableArc specified and installed a ShadeFX retractable solution for the custom deck. A 20’ x 14’ manual canopy in a bold Dickson Arcade FR red fabric was manufactured to fit the custom-designed structure. The canopy hardware was powder-coated white, matching the colour of the structure.

We purchased our ShadeFX in the spring of 2019 for our home in PEI. The red colour was perfect, and we love that it is waterproof as it keeps our sectional nice and dry. We would highly recommend ShadeFX as the quality and service was outstanding!

Beyond protecting the homeowners from sun and rain, the new canopy adds an extra layer of safety by being fireproof. This feature allows the homeowners to freely use their outdoor fire table, fireplace, and BBQ without worry.

ShadeFX retractable canopies can also withstand winds up to 80+ mph when extended and higher winds when retracted. To reduce any chatter from the canopy that may be caused by the harsh coastal wind, C channel stabilizers were added.

Rain or shine, the homeowners can enjoy quality outdoor living while taking in their exclusive spectacular water view.
