Cedars-Sinai Medical Center transforms their outdoor space into functional ‘Green’ workspaces, while enhancing the UV protection for their staff.

Challenge

SmithGroupJJR was challenged to consolidate three large and diverse transplant programs into one building for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. They were tasked to create a multifunction workspace that could facilitate collaboration, efficiency and enjoyment for their diverse medical professionals.

Result

For its exterior shade solution, SmithGroupJJR sourced ShadeFX due to its large coverage capability and its UV, sun and rain protection. This exterior multifunction workspace is now safely and confidently utilized for lunch meetings, staff functions and for relaxation points.

Solution

Two motorized retractable shades were mounted to a wooden terrace structure. Each canopy spanned 21.8 feet long by 11.6 feet wide, and utilized Sunbrella flame retarded fabric to comply with local building code.
