ShadeFX customized a 22’ x 20’ retractable roof for the structural focal point. The waterproof Serge Ferrari Velvet Red fabric complements the bold décor found throughout the backyard design. In addition to protecting the space from sun and rain, the fabric is fire retardant for the two outdoor heaters installed below, keeping the diners safe and warm. The track system and retractable roof components are also painted white to match the structure.
Desiring a flexible solution with rain management, a unique project detail are extensive gutters at 26’. This allows rainwater to drain 4’ past the outdoor kitchen, without having to worry about water dripping nearby.

Integrating the system into their home automation, the Somfy MyLink app allows the roof to operate using a tablet, smartphone, or voice commands while at home or away. Furthermore, an automatic wind sensor will retract the roof based on wind movement when the pre-set threshold is exceeded.
