When The Ritz Carlton Hotel in Toronto needed a classy set of retractable canopies for the finishing touch on its new DEQ patio bar, they looked no further than ShadeFX.

The space was designed by Commute Design, with project requirements that were very demanding. The need to match existing structure finish, accommodate hanging lights and heaters in strategic locations, and to look like the final installation was part of the original structure, were all critical elements in choosing the perfect retractable shade solution.

ShadeFX met the challenge with a number of rope-operated retractable canopies elegantly integrated into the cantilevered structure with a minimum of modification. The rope drives were modified to exit the back of the drive beams in a method that clears the ceiling behind it, keeping a clean minimal and ‘original equipment’ appearance for the mechanisms. Additionally, the drive beams were ‘baloney cut’ to face into the sloped surface of the massive cross beam.

The Ritz Carlton Hotel project in Toronto is another fine example of our ability to adapt ShadeFX to fit into any overhead frame, while still looking like a million bucks.
