Landscaped to perfection, the expansive yard has numerous, multi-level spaces for family and friends to sit, dine, and relax. The new layout features a loggia with an outdoor kitchen, fireplace and green roof, a swimming pool and spa, a custom pergola with retractable shades, and a pool house with a finished basement. Large evergreens were planted for privacy and ornamental plants were used throughout to soften the look of the outdoor space.

For further privacy, McHale built a long crosshatch pergola over some of the social spaces in the main pool area. The custom-made structure covers a hot tub, two living areas, and extends to a dining area next to the pool house.

The beams of the pergola wouldn’t be enough to provide proper shade for the homeowners, so McHale contacted ShadeFX. As long-time partners, McHale worked with ShadeFX to manufacture shade solutions to fit the spaces and the homeowner’s needs. Seven 12′ x 12′ canopies in Sunbrella Ginkgo were customized to cover the individual spaces.

To accommodate the ceiling fans over the living and dining areas, the canopies were installed in a ‘kissing’ orientation. This gives homeowners the freedom to retract or extend one side independent of the other while basking in the sun or taking refuge from the rain.
