Learning in Luxury at the University of Maryland

Named after the Diamondback Terrapin, the University of Maryland is a Big Ten school with even bigger ambitions. Since it’s founding in 1856, ‘The Terps’ has grown to become the largest university in the State, with an enrolment just shy of 40,000 students as of 2015.

In order to keep up with this unprecedented growth, the University of Maryland teamed up with the Toll Brothers Campus Living Subsidiary to build a state of the art student community. This 1, 493-bed luxury student housing complex boasts a resort-style pool, social courtyards with outdoor kitchen, state-of-the-art fitness center, ground floor commercial spaces, gaming clubrooms, and of course, their very own ShadeFX retractable canopy.

To meet the demands of this elaborate vision, the Terrapin Row project required a sense of professionalism, cooperation and expertise. This is why it was no surprise that the Toll Brothers project managers looked to the ‘big men on campus’: Clark Builders Group, Child’s Landscape Contractors and Distinctive Contracting Services.

Working alongside these industry pros, we were able to execute a perfect game plan:

“Simply fantastic. Fantastic products, fantastic options and fantastic communication. Every project has been seamless and very clear. Any efforts to contact someone have be prompt if not immediate. Their products are very well crafted, designed, and assembled. They provide a wonderful solution to protection from the sun or weather. Open when you want and close when you don’t. The range of fabric choices are similar to a custom textile store. Thank you ShadeFX.”

Terrapin Row is a stunning example of design excellence and innovation. By providing students with the amenities and services to succeed, the University of Maryland is fostering a student body ready to take on the twenty-first century.

We couldn’t be happier to be a part of this project, and an unofficial-official ‘Terp’ for life!
