Color is a great way to express yourself.  Whether you choose the drama of black, the passion of red, or the serenity of earth tones, color is the final statement that sets the mood for your outdoor living space.  That’s why we offer a broad range of commercial awning fabrics.  It’s all about choice and this page will help you make the right one.

For all our fabrics, we weld the seams instead of sew them. Welding provides a waterproof seam for the long term so you can rely on it for rain protection for the full life of the fabric. For those in the southwest, thread is the first thing in an awning to succumb to UV. With welded seams the canopy will last until the fabric fails, not just the thread.

Depending on your requirements, you will be choosing between Sunbrella, Harbor Time, or Weblon/Ferrari fabrics. These options are described in more detail below:

The Difference Between Waterproof and Water Resistant

If the canopy will be relied on to keep things dry underneath for the time of a rain shower, water resistant is suitable. If the canopy is expected to keep things dry underneath during the course of a week or for a whole season, then Harbor Time waterproof fabric is required. Waterproof fabrics are not available in patterns, only solid colors.

Our most popular fabric is Sunbrella, a solution dyed acrylic made in the USA. It is well known to be ultra-durable and available in a color selection second to none. Premium Sunbrella Fabrics from the Signature Series (striped) or the Silica Series (textured) are subject to a surcharge. Sunbrella commercial awning fabrics have a 10 year limited warranty.
For waterproof fabrics we use Harbor Time, an acrylic coated polyester which is a marine fabric made by Glen Raven Mills in the USA, the makers of Sunbrella. It offers long term protection from sun and rain with a look and feel that belies a coated fabric. We recommend Harbor Time for locations where resistance to organic debris like leaves, tree sap, bird droppings and the like is required. It is more suited to washing with pressure (very carefully) and has a five year warranty. Click here to view Harbor Time colours.
Condominiums and restaurants are subject to building codes that require fire resistant fabrics. For these projects we offer Weblon (meets ASTME 84) and Ferrari (meets ULC-S109-1969). These are PVC based commercial fabrics that have a plastic touch and feel. However, from a distance they look like fabric. Because they are essentially a plastic coated fabric core, they are also waterproof.
