The city of San Francisco is home to all facets of culture and entertainment. From the renowned Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz to the historic cable cars and painted ladies, there is much to see and do.

Adding to the city’s impressive line-up of iconic features is the brand new Chase Center in Mission Bay. Whether visitors want to see a world-championship team in action or experience a concert, the official home of the Golden State Warriors is the place to be.

Occupying 11 acres of public space, the Chase Center is a massive multi-purpose complex. The stadium boasts a seating capacity of 18,064 and the largest scoreboard in the NBA. In and around the arena are a host of restaurants, retail stores, offices and a waterfront esplanade. Outside the stadium, the open-air gathering space known as ‘Thrive City’ promotes wellness and builds a sense of community with shops, festivals, markets and dining.

Planning in motion for over 7 years, construction broke ground in January 2017 with a grand opening by September 2019. It took the efforts of major investors to get the building underway, with stakeholders partnering with some of the best in the building and construction sector.

Partners included Standard Drywall Inc., one of the five largest nationally ranked contractor per Engineering News-Record in the wall and ceiling industry. They specialize in the construction of projects in the hospitality, entertainment, healthcare, and education industries.

Standard Drywall reached out to ShadeFX to manufacture retractable shades for the project. Sixteen manual canopies in Serge Ferrari Hemp were customized in various sizes and installed in different areas around the center.

One particular area is currently being occupied by a fusion restaurant and dessert shop, Belly & Sweet Belly. It is already known in the Bay Area for its diverse menu and laid-back atmosphere. Located on the esplanade in Thrive City, the restaurant design takes advantage of the panoramic views of the Bay. Its 5,200 sq. ft. space includes an interior dining area and exterior patio adorned with ShadeFX retractable shades.

ShadeFX is pleased to be a part of this San Francisco project.
