Retractable canopies for pergolas and lattice patio covers

The Manual Operation System

The draw cord tension is maintained by a spring at the anchor point on the post or railing.

Notice the draw cord exiting the drive beam straight down. The holes in the side allow the option of exiting left or right to go down a corner post of a freestanding pergola.

The draw cord system uses stainless steel ball bearing marine hardware that operates smoothly and quietly.

The draw cords can exit the monorail drive on either side or straight down.
Typically, straight down to fasten to the top side of a railing, or out the side and over to a corner and down the post for a free standing pergola. Specify your preference on the installation detail page when ordering.
Harken brand components are an industry leader in marine rigging.

The Manual System

Note the windy day this was filmed.

The canopy when extended is smooth and flat and experiencing little motion from the wind.

As for the manual draw cord action, it is light and easy until the last pull which sets the tension in the fabric. On return it is very easy because gravity is helping return the wings as the fabric drops into the folds.
